What a Couples Session at FABLE Actually Feels Like
October 5, 2026

The Question We Get Most
Couples ask us the same thing before they book: will this feel awkward? The honest answer is that it might, for about ninety seconds. Then the music is on, the lights are warm, and you're laughing because your partner just tripped over a robe. That's the session. Not a performance, not a pose-off, just two people being asked to look at each other the way they actually do at home.
We photograph a lot of couples, and no two sessions look the same. Some have been together thirty years and want proof of what still exists between them. Some are newly engaged. Some are celebrating a relationship that doesn't fit anyone else's timeline, and that's exactly the point. Couples boudoir at FABLE isn't built around one kind of partnership. It's built around however yours actually works.
Why Richmond Hill Couples Make the Drive
We photograph a lot of partners who live around Yonge and Major Mackenzie, Bayview, or the neighbourhoods near Richmond Hill Centre. The drive down to our Vaughan studio is short, usually fifteen to twenty minutes depending on traffic, and it's an easy one to make part of the plan. Grab a coffee on the way, talk about what you're nervous about, show up together. Some couples turn it into a full afternoon, a nice dinner after, a reason to dress up that has nothing to do with a special occasion on the calendar.
If you want a closer look at what sessions for Richmond Hill couples specifically tend to involve, from timing to what to expect walking in, our Richmond Hill boudoir photography page walks through it in more detail.
What Actually Happens in the Room
Here's what surprises most couples: we don't hand you a list of poses and ask you to hit your marks. We talk first. We ask how you met, what makes you laugh, whether one of you is the planner and the other the one who shows up fifteen minutes late. That conversation becomes the session. If you're the kind of couple who teases each other constantly, we'll photograph that energy. If you're quieter, more about a hand on a shoulder than a joke, we'll shape the whole afternoon around that instead.
A few things tend to happen no matter who walks through the door:
- The first few minutes feel a little stiff, and then someone laughs and it's gone
- You end up more focused on each other than on the camera
- At least one photo surprises you, the one where you forgot anyone was watching
We shoot in natural light and in our styled sets, whichever suits the story you're telling. Wardrobe is entirely your call, we have a styling closet if you want options, or you're welcome to bring your own.
For Every Kind of Couple
We've photographed partners who've been married twenty-five years and partners who met three months ago. Same-sex couples, opposite-sex couples, couples navigating distance, couples who waited a long time to be able to stand in front of a camera together and feel proud of it. What we've learned is that tenderness looks different on everyone, and our job isn't to impose one idea of romance onto your session. It's to notice what's actually true between you and photograph that.
All clients working with us are 19 or older, and pricing is always shared clearly and transparently before you book anything, so there are no surprises once you're standing in the studio.
Starting the Conversation
You don't need to have the perfect outfit or the perfect timeline figured out before reaching out. Most couples start with a few questions and a conversation about what they're hoping to capture, whether that's a milestone, a quiet Tuesday kind of love, or something they've wanted to do for years and finally decided it was time. Reach out through our contact page and we'll walk you through exactly what a session looks like, from the first email to the day you walk out with photographs that actually look like the two of you.
