Love Letters: Ashley
July 20, 2026

Every woman who walks through our doors has a story.
Some are celebrating a milestone. Others are navigating a difficult season, rediscovering themselves after years of putting everyone else first, or simply choosing to do something that feels completely outside their comfort zone.
While every experience is unique, one thing remains the same: the impact often extends far beyond the portraits.

Our Love Letters series is a collection of real stories, shared in our clients' own words. They are honest, vulnerable, and deeply personal reflections on what brought them to FABLE Studios, how they felt throughout the experience, and what they took away from it.
We're honoured that our clients trust us with these stories, and even more honoured that they're willing to share them in the hope that another woman might see a little of herself in their words.
Ashley is the first to do just that.

Like so many women, Ashley spent years believing the negative things she had heard about herself. Even surrounded by people who loved her, she struggled to see what they saw when they looked at her.
She came to FABLE hoping to see herself through a different lens.
This is Ashley's story.
I have always struggled with being able to see what others see.
Most of my life, I was bullied for my weight and appearance. I didn't have the fancy expensive clothes growing up, I was a bit on the heavier side, and I wasn't popular. When I'd be out with friends, I never felt seen. I wasn't the pretty, skinny one. Over time, I started to believe all of it. When I looked in the mirror, I still saw the chunky kid with acne. How could I be beautiful?
That's not to say that my fiancé and friends don't tell me that I am, but in my head, I was still programmed to think they were only saying it because they had to.
Over the past few years, I have done a lot of work on myself. I've lost weight and have been trying to heal the little girl in me who never felt seen, good enough, or pretty. I've surrounded myself with positive people who lift me up and help me see just how beautiful I am.
I wanted to do this for myself so I could finally see what they see when they look at me. And boy, did it help.
My experience at FABLE was amazing. I remember sitting parked outside the building thinking, "Oh gosh, am I really doing this?" But from the moment I walked in, everyone was so friendly and welcoming.
Alex did my hair and makeup, and she was fantastic. We had such great conversations, and she really helped settle my nerves. Kaitlyn was my photographer, and she was so much fun. She helped me choose outfits and talked me through every pose. As the session went on, I became more and more confident and less concerned about the minimal amount of clothing. I just remember feeling so pretty and so confident when I left that day.
Viewing the portraits afterwards was a blast. It was so hard to narrow down my favourites. They were put into a beautiful album, and I even had one turned into a canvas. I get to look at them every day for a much-needed boost of confidence.
This experience has played a huge part in changing how I see myself. On the days when I look in the mirror and don't like how I look or I'm feeling down on myself, I can look at these amazing portraits and remember what a beautiful, confident woman I really am.
I finally see what my friends and fiancé have been trying to tell me all along.
I gained a greater appreciation for my body. I carry myself differently. And most importantly, I feel beautiful, inside and out.
Our Reflection
One thing that stayed with us after Ashley's session was how many women quietly carry the same story.
Childhood experiences, hurtful comments, and years of self-doubt have a way of becoming the voice we hear in our own heads. We begin to believe those stories, even when the people around us see something completely different.
Watching Ashley discover that confidence throughout her session was incredibly special. Not because she became more beautiful that day, but because she finally began to see the beauty that had always been there.
Ashley, thank you for trusting us with your story. We hope it reminds every woman who reads it that sometimes, seeing yourself through a different lens can change far more than the way you see yourself. It can change the way you carry yourself every day afterward.
If Ashley's story sounds a little like your own, we would love to hear it. Start your inquiry.
